Some breeders do not allow you to pick the puppy of your choice. They try to match the puppy with the preferences their client is looking for. The pro of this selection process is that no one is going to have a better idea of the different personalities and temperaments these pups posses, other than the breeder that raised them. In some ways this type of selection prevents a bad pairing between pup and owner because a person may solely be looking at one characteristic, such as size. They client gets the size they want and when they get home, the pups energy level is the exact opposite of what the owner was looking for.
The con of this selection process is that it's taking a lot of the excitement out of picking and choosing your own puppy. Personally speaking, I feel that this is one of the most exciting parts about bringing home a new member of the family. I have had many, many dogs throughout my life (almost my whole entire life having a Golden Retriever by my side) and every one of them I have chosen personally. Ever since I can remember, that was one of the most exciting experiences I have ever had in my life. We want you to get the the puppy you want and we can definitely guide you to your preference along the way. We don't want to be responsible for giving you a puppy we think you'll be a good match for and that puppy turning out to be not what you had hoped. We encourage you to watch closely at the pups development, ask questions and be involved to keep an eye on the pups you are interested in. It's a part of your responsibility as a owner to expose, teach and guide the pup to help achieve the qualities you are looking for!
The process for making your pick goes as follows:
ALL RESERVATIONS ARE FULFILLED FIRST! - Of course, the likelihood of recieving your reservation depends on the size of the litter and how many of each gender there are in the litter. The clients who reserved their specific gender preference will be fulfilled first, by the order of their placement on our waitlist. There are no guarantees in receiving your gender preference, but a higher placement on our waitlist usually will increase your chances significantly. Your overall placement (tbd) determines the order of picking available puppies of the opposite sex that will be offered to our clients who's reservation was not fulfilled.
You will have two options if we are unable to offer you an available puppy: 1.) Your first option is to roll your deposit over to the next available spot of a future litter and you would highly likely end up with a better spot on our waitlist and increase the likelihood of receiving the pup of your preference. 2.) Your second option would be to receive a refund of deposit. Again, this will only be offered if we do not have any available puppies to offer you!
Puppy selection can be difficult at such early age and we are happy to guide you to finding the personality and temperament you are looking for. We wait until our pups are at least six weeks old to begin the selection process. This also helps in giving the puppy time to develop physically and emotionally, although it is really just the beginning of their development. Every one of our puppies is assigned a colored collar at birth, so that we can keep track of their physical development and personalities as they grow. By the time they reach six weeks of age, our clients are able to see the pups distinct personalities. Once puppy selection has been made, preferably by FaceTime, Skype or Zoom , Puppies will remain with us until their departure date (On or after 8 weeks of age) to their new forever homes.
