Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at gildedgoldenretievers@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We are located in Northern California in the small town of Palo Cedro, just outside of Redding, California. We moved here to find a property to grow our program and have much more room for our dogs to play. We moved from the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area a couple years ago and very much enjoy the change of lifestyle it has brought us. Although we have dogs all over the country in many other states, the majority of our clientele comes from the California Bay Area and Silicon Valley.

Yes. Several delivery options can be discussed and arranged. As mentioned above, we are originally from the California Bay Area and still have family living there. As an effort to accommodate most of our clientele and spare them the hassle and expense of traveling further, we currently still host our puppy pickup day at our family's home in Brentwood, CA. Other hand delivery options may also be discussed and arranged.

For those interested in out of state delivery, we use a flight nanny service that travels in cabin with the puppy. The puppies are tended to and cared for throughout the whole entire trip, until brought to you safe and happy.

Our puppies are sold as for $3,500 - $6,000. Depending upon the type of registration (Pet or Breeding Rights) and the litter pairing (Parents/Bloodline), pricing will vary.  All pet pricing is the same regardless of gender. Full registration (Breeding Rights) is available occasionally depending upon the pairing, to an approved breeding program. ALL PRICING IS  NON-NEGOTIBLE.

This price reflects all the time, energy, care, planning, importing, health testing and many other expenses we have invested into producing the finest quality puppies for your family. Our puppies are raised as one of our family! We are NOT a puppy mill and appreciate those of you who understand our dedication to prioritizing quality over quantity.

For those of you that feel our pricing is just not obtainable for you. I would invite you to inquire about our guardianship program. It's a great opportunity for people that are financially unable to purchase a quality pup from our program, but still would be able care and provide properly for their pup, making a wonderful home to be raised in.

Yes! All puppies will come with a clean bill of health from a Veterinarian, their first DHPP shot, dewormed, microchipped, AKC registration paperwork, but will be pre-registered by us.

A puppy pack/swag bag will go home with each of our pups. This is what will be included:

  1. Copy of the Bill of Sale and Puppy Contract
  2. AKC registration paperwork (Again, registration will be taken care of by us!)
  3. AKC Reunite microchip/info
  4. Medical documentation of exams, fecal test, vaccination record, etc.
  5. Training packet to help with potty training, crate training and basic  obedience.
  6. Educational pamphlets on weight management, effects of early spay/neuter and info on what to expect when bring your puppy home.
  7. A sample of  Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy food.
  8. Snuggle Puppy with heartbeat and heat packs.
  9. Litter scent blanket with all the scents of mom and littermates.
  10. Several chew toys
  11. A couple of complementary Gilded Golden Retriever branded gifts!

All our pups stay with us  until the age of 8 weeks at the very least. It's very important to us that the puppy starts out with proper socialization and learn puppy etiquette. By 8 weeks we feel the puppy has learned enough from it's mother, littermates, and exposure to start developing a bond with it's new family.

All our breeding dogs have passed and received there health clearances either through the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) or the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). Being that we import a lot of our dogs, most of our dogs have some form of testing from both organizations. Although each organization may have slightly different standards, it is agreed upon globally of what testing is to be done for the  Golden Retriever breed, to prevent the passing of hereditary diseases.

These are the health tests that are performed to our breeding dogs before any breeding to screen for any genetic disease:

  • Hips - X-rays to screen for genetic hip dysplasia
  • Elbows - X-rays to screen for genetic elbow dysplasia
  • Eyes - ACVO eye exam to screen for hereditary/genetic eye disease
  • Heart - Echocardiogram to screen for any congenital heart defects or disease

Our dogs are also DNA tested to screen for genetically carried disease. This is useful in deciding what dogs can/can't be bred and what dogs can be bred with one another. We use a Golden Retriever panel from Embark, that tests for the breed relevant conditions associated most commonly with Golden Retrievers.
